This Documentary Reveals Graphic Design Before Computers Made it Easy

A friend of mine who is a photographer shared this link via his Facebook post early today.  And while I was never personally involved in the newspaper or printing business, I had several friends who were.  Folks today probably have no idea what all went into printing the daily newspaper, or a magazine or even a simple flyer.

If you are a teacher, you may like to share this with your students who are in graphic arts programs, or marketing, or anything where they create printable material.  And if you were in the graphics industry and want to share a story or some of your thoughts about how the industry has changed since the introduction of computers, please feel free to include it in the comments area.

  1. The struggle and challenge of doing something without the aid of a computer is unfortunately lost on the current generation. I’m looking forward to seeing this documentary when it arrives this fall.
